“Photo of the Month” for November features two shots from our trip back to Hong Kong. My son and I were among 2,000 traveling fans from Singapore to watch a crucial Asian Cup (football) qualifier between Hong Kong and Singapore. ⚽️
To our delight, Singapore came from behind to win 2–1, securing their first-ever Asian Cup qualification on merit since independence (excluding 1984, when they automatically qualified as the host)! 🎉

For me, the joy was even greater, because I’ve been fortunate to get to know Singapore midfielder Kyoga Nakamura in recent years. He’s a former Japan youth international who played in the 2013 U-17 World Cup, but now represents Singapore at senior level after obtaining Singapore citizenship last year.
I was especially happy because even before he became a Singapore citizen, we often talked about his dream of playing for Singapore in the Asian Cup. Seeing that dream come true was truly wonderful! 🥹
The Asian Cup will take place in Saudi Arabia in January 2027, and I’m looking to fly there to watch our national team go up against Asia’s best.
Back to Photography
With three more free evenings in Hong Kong, I returned to Victoria Peak and Des Voeux Road to shoot again (why not? 😅). This was my 10th trip to Hong Kong, and I had photographed the skyline from Victoria Peak on every single visit. Personally, I still prefer the shot I took last year, as shown in Photo of the Month (December 2024), though this year’s image comes a close second.
Overall, this short trip was incredibly satisfying. We witnessed history being made for the Singapore national football team, and I managed to capture another solid shot of Hong Kong skyline. 😊
