Long Exposure Cityscape Photography at Blue Hour

Photo of the Month (April 2025)

Photographed on 10 April 2025 at Bayfront Avenue (Singapore). EXIF: 18mm, f/11, 192 secs, ISO 100.

Although I’ve fully recovered from the pinched nerve that kept me out for most of March, I only managed to go out shooting on a few evenings in April, because of the persistently bad weather. 😭

That’s why I feel lucky to have captured something worthy of a spot in POTM (Photo of the Month)! I tried this composition featuring the glass dome Apple Store at Marina Bay for the first time. It’s a cool subject, but honestly, not an ideal place for a long exposure, as the tripod has to sit on a wooden deck that vibrates every time someone walks by.

I just kept my fingers crossed and hoped not too many people would come by while the long exposure was running. 🤣 In the end, it came out sharp enough — although I don’t quite like the dark clouds rolling in. Hopefully, I’ll come back here and try again in May!

Great shot Joey and I love the city view from this close up perspective!

Thanks, Daniel! Lately, I’ve been shooting more from this side (Bayfront Avenue) to give it a slightly different perspective. 😅
