From SG50 to SG60: A Decade Through My Lens
Singapore celebrated its 60th birthday, known as “SG60,” on 9 August 2025. Personally, I’ve been living in Singapore for nearly 20 years since my early 30s, so I also witnessed the historical SG50 milestone back in 2015, which doesn’t feel all that long ago. It’s easy to say “time flies,” but when working full-time, even a single day can feel long, so I wouldn’t say the past 10 years have flown by. π
My favorite Singapore photos I’ve taken, marked with the “SG60” logo.
From a photography perspective, though, the past decade has been incredibly productive. Of the 40 photos in my Top 40 Photo Gallery, only one was taken before 2015. The remaining 39 were all shot within the last 10 years, which really shows how much my photography has evolved during this time.
Fukuoka Skyline from Fukuoka Tower (Japan). 18mm, f/11, 30 secs, ISO 100. Shot in 2014, this is the only photo in my Top 40 Photo Gallery taken before SG50 in 2015.
By the way, my photo gallery works on a strict “one in, one out” basis. It always holds exactly 40 photos, so whenever I take a new photo that’s worthy of a spot in the gallery, the weakest one gets removed to make room. I plan to continue this way until I have no weak photo to remove. Then, I’ll probably expand it to 50 and rename it “Top 50 Photo Gallery.” π
I wonder what my gallery will look like at SG70 in 2035. Aging is scary, but the progress I’ve made with my photography over the last decade reminds me that time can bring good things too! π

It can definitely be fun to look back on our old photos and see how much we’ve progressed and look back on memories. That Fukuoka Skyline image is really nice too btw!
Thanks! Flickr feels like the perfect place for this. I’ll make time to set up a gallery there with the top 40 photos (plus the ones I had removed earlier π ).
