Letting My Photos Live Beyond My Lifetime

When I die, this photography website dies, too, because I’ll miss the payment due for renewing the web-hosting and domain name. šŸ˜… So, in order to let my photos remain accessible beyond my lifetime, I’ll need to set up a free photo gallery site that can outlive me.

To me, an ideal photo gallery site should be: 1ļøāƒ£ All photos/pages can be viewable by anyone without being prompted to log in or sign up (Instagram is out). 2ļøāƒ£ No compression applied to photos. 3ļøāƒ£ Can replace photos (e.g. when I re-edit). 4ļøāƒ£ Can rearrange the order. 5ļøāƒ£ Free of charge (so that it remains accessible as long as the service is retained).

As far as I know, Flickr is the only place that ticks all the boxes, but please let me know if you know somewhere else! At this moment, I’m not yet starting to set up Flickr or anything like that, but this is something I’m planning to do when approaching older age. šŸ˜…

P.S. Interestingly, Flickr lets us apply to have the account of a Flickr member who has passed away placed in a protected “In Memoriam” state (details here ).

P.P.S. Probably more interestingly, WordPress offers 100-year hosting plan at USD38,000 for those wanting to preserve their websites for generations to come. šŸ˜…

Flickr does seem like the most valid option although you can’t really organize images unless it’s in their album!

Yes, Flickr seems like the answer as of today, but not sure about 10 or 20 years from now. šŸ˜… Scrolling a while and getting prompted to log in or sign up is increasingly common these days…

Flickr could be uncertain even a few years from now, their prices are insane and even Iā€™m considering not using it any more.
