“Photo of the Month” for December features two images taken in Fukuoka (Japan) and Shanghai (China). I spent about two weeks away with my family toward the end of the year, staying seven nights in Shanghai and eight nights in Fukuoka.

To be honest, I’m not entirely convinced about the Shanghai shot. The reflection is rather weak, and I was facing the monotonous eastern sky, with the sun setting behind me (not a great recipe for blue hour photos 😅).

Even so, the experience was memorable, as I met up with Daniel and his wife, who had traveled from Sydney, and went shooting together at The Bund! It was our first reunion since their wedding in Bali in 2022, and it’s hard to believe how fast time flies…

After Shanghai, my family and I flew to Fukuoka, where I grew up, to take care of some family matters. I only managed to shoot on one evening there, but I was quite pleased with what I came away with. Having photographed from this spot several times, I know the water isn’t always calm, which made this evening particularly special. 😊

Lastly, a belated Happy New Year to all the readers! I hope the year ahead treats you well. As for me, it’s another year of shooting, occasional traveling, and aiming to capture images worthy of inclusion in my Top 40 Photo Gallery. 📸 Happy shooting!
